ANNOUNCEMENTS

Members and Friends of the Legion,

Please keep Col. Andy Peterson and his family in your thoughts and prayers during these next few weeks. Col. Peterson is dealing with some life changing health issues that will require his full attention for a little while. His wife and family are providing their moral support to him as well. Please direct any questions to Lt. Col. Bill Long (elguapo61@verizon.net) or Capt. Dave Reitz (drdzfarm16@gmail.com) so that we do not add additional stress to the family.

As I know more, I will pass the information along.

I respectfully remain,

Brian Gesuero

Legion photo to be taken at the 150th Gettysburg!!!

Members and Friends of the Legion,

On Sunday, July 7th at approximately 8:00 AM, during the 150th Gettysburg reenactment, we will form the Legion for a formation photo. This includes all three infantry battalions (2nd Regiment, 3rd Regiment, Independent Guard Battalion), the 1st Artillery Battalion and our cavalry. This will be a once in a lifetime chance to get the entire Legion in one place at one time and take a historically correct photograph. We currently have close to 500 PACS members registered for Gettysburg and I expect more by event time. This photo will be available for sale. I am working with Del Hilbert of the Victorian Photography Studio to make these prints available for $25 each, with $5 going to PACS.

I respectfully remain,

Brothers and Sisters of PACS,

The town of Mechanicsburg Pa. the last and furthest North town to be occupied by the Confederacy just days prior to the battle of Gettysburg and the encampment of General Albert Jenkins for his skirmish at Sporting Hill (Camp Hill Pa. today) will be holding a reenactment of the “Occupation of Mechanicsburg” on Saturday June 29. A full day of the recreation of the event will include:

What is needed:
approximately 12 to 20 Cavalry reenactors with horses.

Approximately 5 to 10 infantry soldiers to join in with the 42nd Mississippi Co.

A Confederate Doctor/Surgeon for program at the Library (can set up tent and display easily at this location)
As many civilian reenactors as possible, both female and male to intersperse with the spectators watching the event and give the feel of 1863.

There will be more details as we draw closer, and more town historic task force council meetings are held. But everything is a definite go!
I am a member of this task force, for a town I was born and raised in and currently reside with my family today, and I call upon the help of my Brothers and Sisters of PACS who I and my family have come to know and love with a passion in this hobby. This is a unique, never been held before, once in a lifetime event and I could really use your help. There is no charge, registration fees and the town and your PACS brothers of the 42nd Mississippi will assure you have a rip roaring good time!

For more details and your hopeful participation, please contact me at 717-350-3651, or email me at wileys5@comcast.net

Your humble and obedient servant,

1st Sgt. Todd Wiley

Remembrance Day 2013

Friends and Members of the Legion,

I have just received word that the Remembrance Day Parade in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania has been changed from the 16th of November to the 23rd of November. I know that many of you stay in Gettysburg that weekend and make your hotel reservations very early, sometimes a year in advance. So please take note of the date change.

Cedar Creek

Members and Friends of the Legion,

I want to thank each and every one of you that helped to make the annual Cedar Creek Reenactment a huge success. The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation was very pleased all weekend long. It takes an entire organization, from top to bottom, to make an event like this a success for the reenactors, the spectators and the foundation. We have certainly showed the reenacting community the strength of our organization this year.

I hope to see many of you in Gettysburg on November 17th for the Remembrance Day Parade. Let’s all march together and once again show our strength. Also, the Winter Meeting is January 5th. I would like to see everyone there to help plan for another fantastic year for PACS!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

I respectfully remain,

Brian Gesuero

Note From Tim Stowe, President of the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation

Gentlemen,

I wanted to share with you this comment from our facebook page. This is one of MANY we have received that expresses how much the spectators liked this year's battle reenactment, and they are all excited about the battle being in their grill! Please feel free to share this with your troops, as well as our deepest appreciation for a job well done.
